Girl Vibes.

Filed under: Knocked Up, Pregnancy, Pregnant — Kriss @ 9:57 pm

It seems the general consensus amongst my family members is that I’m having a little girl.  Which is incredibly strange, because I’ve believed since day one that I’m carrying a boy.

I don’t know which to hope for.  I think boys are easier – they can entertain themselves for hours on end with trucks and legos and books.  But a little boy will bring the issue of getting circ’ed and I really don’t want to have to deal with that.

But girls seems to be so much harder.  They’re whiny and manipulative and sassy little drama queens.  And they’re expected to dress in hoochy mama clothes at the ripe old age of six!

I will definitely love whatever we get.  But deep down, I think I’m hoping for a boy.  However, my husband, father, two aunts, cousin, and goddaughter all think it’s a girl.

Only 10 more weeks until we can find out!

  1. 10 more weeks for us too! They said they would do an u/s between 18-20 weeks but they wanted to wait until 20 really. My hubby keeps calling the baby “she” which is odd because boys run in his family and they run fast! :) lol All the women in his family say I have to have a girl! hee hee
At this point, I don’t really have a preference…I’ll be happy either way. On the other hand, I don’t know too much about boys…I’ve been around girls most my life.
All my baby dreams except one have been me having a girl.
Can’t wait until we both find out. :)

  2. Both of my sisters were wrong in their first two pregnancies (they both thought they’d have a boy for their first, then in their second they were both hoping for another girl–totally wrong!). :-) W/my first, I always strongly thought he was a boy, and I was right. It’s such fun to wait and find out, though!

And fwiw, we chose not to circumcise our boys (I’ve written about it on my blog–don’t know how to make a link here, so you can go to http://womantowomancbe.wordpress.com and click on “circumcision” in the tags).

As far as the girls go–I *completely* agree with you!–especially about the slutty clothes. (Although girls can entertain themselves for hours with dolls.) My sisters and SILs have a hard time finding any decent clothes. If I have a girl and can’t get hand-me-downs, or find good clothes in the store, I’m going to have to sew, because I will refuse to let my little girl dress in most of what I’ve seen lately. Oh, and if you have a girl, let me recommend the book “Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters” by Dr. Meg Meeker to you. A friend of mine got it when his baby was born, and has said he will read it every year because it was so powerful.

  3. haha see I always wanted a girl. I think the whole “discovering his penis and always keeping his hands down there” and masterbating stage frightens me. Its probably why I will never have a boy dog either, seeing the “little guy” come out to play makes me uncomfortable. Then again I am weird lol.

  4. I have boy vibes for you, Kris. But then again I had boy vibes for me too and couldn’t have been more surprised (or delighted) when we had a girl.

And for what it’s worth, I wont be dressing my daughter like a hooch at age 6 or 16. At 26 I guess she can decide for herself. lol

  5. My SIL was convinced she was having a girl and when they said “its a boy” she sat straight up and yelled “what do you mean its a boy?” She went on to have two more boys before she finally had her girl.
